Toe Tingling Student Discounts in Brighton, UK:

My hometown, the city of Brighton and Hove is a mecca for international students, not only studying the English language, but courses from Beauty to Quantum Physics.

The city thrives on its student population. There are two universities, a city college, numerous high schools and private education institutions. Therefore, the city is awash with fruity student discounts! Below are some of the BEST, enjoy!

The first step, just as you step off the plane if possible, is to get an NUS card. The is the student ID card, accepted in all establishments. Once in Brighton, you can apply for the card at the One Stop Travel Shop. You can find this at the bottom of St james St, and North Street. Find out more here: http://www.buses.co.uk/trips/onestop.aspx

http://www.studentbeans.com/brighton/offers/ This Student website, requires you to sign up for their newsletter. In my opinion, it is well worth it. There are discounts for anything and everything you could dream of!

Brighton and Hove bus and coach company. Special Tickets for College & University: Students, http://www.buses.co.uk/tickets/student.aspx This one is a must, as the public transport can be expensive in the city.

Reduced rates for students, when paying council tax: http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/content/council-tax-and-benefits/council-tax/council-tax-student-reductions (application form included in a link on the site).

Now, I would never condone a taxi, unless it is an emergency, as I believe it is a waste of money. When Elizabeth and I were living there, I walked everywhere, and Elizabeth cycled, now I am more into cycling, and Elizabeth is more into the couch. That said, here are student discounts for Brighton taxis: http://www.buses.co.uk/trips/onestop.aspx

Lets not forget, good old STA Travel. There is a branch also on North Street in Brighton. I have always had a good experience with STA Travel. I used them when I was 19 and went travelling on my own for the first time...oh, the memories.

Enough reminising...for now. The student discounts above should get you settled in Brighton with everything you need. If I find anymore offers which make my toes tingle, I will be sure to let you know.
