A Masterful List Of Books To Inspire And Motivate A Bright And Successful Future.

For preparation for the serious graduate students or anyone that is serious about success. I have
concocted a masterful list of books to inspire and motivate a bright and successful future.
What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast by Laura Vanderkam.
How to makeover your mornings so that you can take advantage of this time to incorporate things into your day that you love to do outside of school and work.
Little Bets:  How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge from Small Discoveries by Peter Sims.
Spins your view on failure
Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott.
Her advice on writing, and the often-quoted concept of a “shitty first draft”, is helpful to any graduate student struggling to write.
Writing Science:  How to Write Papers That Get Cited and Proposals That Get Funded by Joshua Schimel.
This book provides some of the best advice on how to structure the story of your experiment, how to write effectively for different audiences/purposes (grants), all the way down to how to write paragraphs and choose words.
Mindset:  The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
The concept of a fixed versus Growth mindset, no matter how positive you may be, there will be a few times during your degree when you have no idea how you are going to fix a major problem with your research.  Basically how you deal with the challenges you will face and your mindset on how to deal with your setbacks.
Enjoy your weekend my friends.
